Production designer

Job description

As a Production Designer at Knack, you will execute and iterate design concepts by building precise and accurate files for a variety of mediums: inserts/circulars, print collateral, POS, direct mail, and a variety of digital executions. 

The role will include taking on creative production during the design stages of development to ensure accuracy, preparing files for client reviews and making files ready for development and launch. To be successful in this position, you must possess strong creative and production technical skills, and be comfortable working with files in a variety of formats and integrating revisions based on client and internal review. Must be able to take agency-designed creative to completion and prep files for digital web, making tweaks and changes. Adherence to documentation standards, attention to detail, and rapid turnaround are critical in this role. 


  • Ability to collaborate with a team and take direction

  • This candidate should have experience working with outside production departments and freelance resources.

  • Ensure updates and revisions are incorporated accurately

  • Generate client deliverables on short notice and troubleshoot output issues as needed

  • Stay in constant communication with team members on delivery days to ensure all deliverables are prepped correctly and ready to go out on time

  • Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision and tight deadlines

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1-4 years working as a production designer or equivalent in a creative environment

  • Must be able to learn the team’s design and copy documentation standards and be able to apply them using a variety of tools (Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch, Acrobat Pro, PowerPoint)

  • Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office products

  • Portfolio of beautiful, compelling marketing and brand-oriented work

  • Experience working on a range of digital projects including responsive web pages, paid media, and email templates

  • Proficiency designing for print

  • A solid understanding of typography and designing to a grid

  • Experience designing for different audiences (B2B, consumer, enterprise)

  • Ability to quickly iterate digital assets across multiple formats and uses

  • Fierce attention to detail

  • Knowledgeable about digital and mobile trends, as well as sharable content

  • Additional marketing design background is a plus
